minne ponsen
"Erfstuk" translated to 'heirloom' is a collabortaive artwork and design project between mother and daughter. It not only resulted into a tailored wedding dress and heirloom but conceptually it ties into what we inherit from the generation before us.
What does it mean to be a woman in this capitalist society?
Togheter Diane Meyboom and Minne Ponsen explores the layers of meaning behind one of the most iconic symbols of matrimony- the wedding dress. Often seen as a cliché, the big white dress traditionally symbolizes purity and a young bride’s commitment to her husband (in Christianity). Yet, in its many forms today, the wedding dress reflects the diversity of relationships and the individuality of those who wear it. Beneath this garment lies a rich history intertwined with the narratives of women and their often-unrecognized labor.

By embracing the concept of the feminist "knitting circle," they reinterpreted tradition through both art and design. Diane, who remarried later in life, crocheted an heirloom with her daughter, transforming a conventional symbol into a statement and above all a beautiful tailored garment.
